Likewise, if one of the parents resides in Debary

The city of Debarywas named after a wealthy champagne importer from New York by the
name of Samuel Frederick Debary. In 1871, DeBary purchased land in the area and built a
stately mansion called Debary Hall.
Debary Hall which still stands today, was built on high land overlooking Lake Monroe and is about a mile away from the shore. Debary Hall was Debary's winter retreat and hunting lodge and there is no doubt that Debary Hall was built for entertainment.
Lodging at Debary Hall was by invitation only. Guests of Debary Hall have included two presidents of the United States, European royalty, and others. In addition to its architectural detail, Debary Hall offered a number of luxuries that were uncommon at the time such as an elevator, running water, and electricity made on site. And, Debary Hall had the first swimming pool in Volusia County and arguably the first pool built in the State of Florida.
Since 1972, Debary Hall has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
