Family Law Help?
Deltona, Florida
In 1859, George Sauls and his family became the first settlers in the area which today is known as Deltona. The Deltona area was referred to as Saulsville back then.

Sauls, who was originally from Haw Creek (north of Deltona) served as a secret agent for the Confederates during the Civil War. Sauls is credited for laying out the Titusville Public Road in 1865 when he helped a Confederate General haul, from the Deltona area to the Titusville area, a Federal steamboat captured by the Confederate Army.

In 1962, a company purchased 17,203 acres for development in the Deltona area. Later that year, the company began construction of homes in the subdivision which they named Deltona Lakes. Then in 1963, the first residents of Deltona Lakes moved in. The name Deltona is a combination of Deland and Daytona.

The Deltona area was incorporated as the City of Deltona in 1995, on its third try. Today, Deltona has a population of over eighty five thousand.

If you need help with your Deltona Family Law
or Deltona Divorce Case... We Can Help You
Family Law cases, which may include divorce, child custody, child support, and other family law matters, are typically filed in the county in which the parties live. Therefore, if you and your spouse live in Deltona, your Deltona divorce, alimony, child custody, relocation, child support, modification, or other family law case, would typically be filed with the Court in Volusia County, because Deltona is located in Volusia County.
This rule concerning with which Court a family law case should be filed applies regardless of marital status. So, just as above, if you are the unmarried parent of a minor and you and the other parent live in Deltona, your Deltona paternity, child custody, modification, child support, or other type of family law case, would typically be filed with the Volusia County Court.
Remember, it is the county of residence not the city of residence which determines where a divorce or other type of family law case should be filed. Therefore, if you live in Deltona and the other parent resides in a different city which is also in Volusia County, your Deltona family law case would typically still be filed with the Volusia County Court.
Your Deltona Family Law or Deltona Divorce Case
will likely be filed with the Volusia County Courthouse
Similarly, if one of the parties lives in Deltona and the other party lives in another state, the Deltona family law case could properly be filed in Volusia County if the jurisdictional requirements are met. However, in those cases in which any children related to the family law case are located in the other state, the authority of the Family Law Court in Volusia County may be limited.
Now in those cases where one of the parties lives in Deltona and the other party lives in a city that is not located in Volusia County, the Deltona divorce or other type of family law case could be filed in Volusia County, but would not necessarily have to be filed in Volusia County.
As your divorce attorney or family lawyer, attorney Acevedo will provide you with all the family law legal advice and legal help you should expect from your family lawyer.
