Family Law Help?
Lake Mary, Florida
Lake Mary was originally a stop on the South Florida Railroad known as Bents. The area
came to be known as Lake Mary after 1894, when the Rev. J.F. Sundell built a house on
the north shore of the lake which he named "Lake Mary" after his wife.
Even in its early days, many families were attracted to Lake Mary. This was due in large part
to the efforts of the Lake Mary Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Mary Tourist Club.
The Lake Mary Chamber helped introduce electric power and telephone service to Lake
Mary while the Lake Mary Tourist Club organized social events for visitors and residents.
Since its humble beginnings as an agricultural community, Lake Mary continued to grow and
flourish and in 1973, Lake Mary was incorporated as a city.
Also of note, in 2007, Lake Mary was listed in Money Magazine's Best Places to Live in
America. Lake Mary came in at Number 4.

If you need help with your Lake Mary Family Law
or Lake Mary Divorce Case... We Can Help You
This rule concerning with which Court a family law case should be filed applies regardless of
marital status. So, just as above, if you are the unmarried parent of a minor and you and the other
parent live in Lake Mary, your Lake Mary paternity, child custody, child support, modification,
or other type of family law case, would typically be filed with the Seminole County Court.
Remember, it is the county of residence not the city of residence which determines where a
divorce or other type of family law case should be filed. Therefore, if you live in Lake Mary and
the other parent resides in a different city which is also in Seminole County, your Lake Mary
family law case would typically still be filed with the Seminole County Court.
Likewise, if one of the parents resides in Lake
Mary and the other parent resides in another
state, the Lake Mary family law case could be
filed in Seminole County so long as the
jurisdictional requirements are met. However, if
any of the children related to the family law case
are located in the other state, the authority of the
Seminole County Court may be limited.
Our offices are located at 116 North Park Avenue in downtown Sanford, just steps from the
Seminole County Courthouse. Needless to say, having your divorce lawyer or family law attorney
so close to the Courthouse can be convenient for you, especially if you are involved in a Lake
Mary family law case in which many issues are being litigated.
However, the facts of each case are different
and, for different reasons, sometimes the other
side refuses to be reasonable. If the other side
takes positions that are unreasonable regarding
any aspect of your divorce, alimony, child
custody, or other family law matter, attorney
Acevedo will prepare your case, he will prepare
you, and he will take your case to Court.
And if the other side refuses to be reasonable regarding
your Lake Mary Family Law or Lake Mary Divorce
case, we will fully prepare your case and take it to Court
